We are a team of communicators head-quartered in Melbourne, Australia with experience covering the whole communications spectrum – from copy-writing and social media to communications audits or interim function leadership.
Our team has worked in a wide range of industries, from agriculture to consumer goods, engineering to higher education and financial services to not-for-profits. But if we don’t have the experience or skills in-house, we have a wide range of experts that we can bring onboard.
In addition to our in-house team, JAW Communications has a network of talented people from designers, photographers and filmmakers to creative agencies and printers. We are also happy to work with your preferred suppliers and agencies. The team can adapt and flex to your needs.
We enjoy working with small to medium-sized organisations, and not-for-profits where we can work directly with the leadership team and have a clear line of impact. We are equally able to work with larger companies and leverage our extensive collective experience in corporate communications.
Principal Consultant & Managing Director
Julie is passionate about helping leaders harness the power of communication to grow their organisations and be more successful.
Building on more than 20 years’ experience working in-house for blue-chip Australian companies and listed global companies, as well as privately owned multi-nationals, partnerships, small companies and not-for-profit organisations, Julie established JAW Communications in 2011.
Julie works directly with leaders on communication strategy, reputation and issues management and employee engagement. She starts by asking challenging questions to understand your business objectives and ensure the strategy is right, then gets directly involved – from planning and providing strategic guidance to coaching, crafting messages and writing speeches.
Julie is a past Board member of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) - Victoria chapter and has been a regular judge of the global IABC Gold Quill Awards.
Senior Communications Associate
Helen has more than 16 years’ experience across various communication disciplines and industries. She has worked for several major corporations including Shell Australia, ANZ, Barclays, Cabrini Health and Energis, and volunteered on the Board of IABC Victoria for five years, including a term as President.
Helen appreciates complex organisational structures and has an ability to quickly build relationships and engage successfully with people working at all levels across the organisation. She enjoys thinking strategically and is adept at ensuring all communications are integrated, timely and appropriate for the audience.
Gill has a background in HR and Business Administration and has worked in both large corporations and smaller consultancies, as well as with not-for-profit clients. She has a broad understanding of business and experience in project management and consulting.
Gill has a conscientious and methodical approach to work. She is an avid researcher, able to think laterally and ensure all angles are considered. She has the ability to synthesise information and shape it into engaging and meaningful narrative. Gill is comfortable in dealing with highly complex, confidential information, and is known for her attention to detail.
Lisa’s communications experience runs across organisations in the not-for-profit, sustainability, hospitality, agriculture and technology industries. In 2013 she completed a Post-graduate Diploma in PR, graduating in the top 2% of higher education students at RMIT.
Lisa is a gun copywriter and editor, translating complex information into friendly and accessible content. She particularly enjoys writing for web, and has managed over a dozen new website projects from briefing to launch. Lisa's knack for understanding stakeholder requirements and amicable character means she communicates between clients, teams and project partners with ease.
Jane is a results-driven communications and marketing professional with over a decade of experience in journalism and production. In recent years, these skills have been transferred to the world of proactive and reactive media relations, corporate affairs, stakeholder engagement, digital and social media in both public and private sectors.
Over the course of her career, Jane has worked on some of Australia’s most significant sporting events and managed a number of high profile athletes and organisations. A skilled media and community relations strategist, Jane can deliver tailored initiatives in an ever-changing landscape.
Jarvis started with JAW Communications in 2016 as a high-achieving Media and Communications graduate from Swinburne University of Technology, where in 2015 he was bestowed with the award for highest achieving student of his degree.
He has progressed from being our Jack of all trades to a strong communications coordinator particularly interested in social and broadcast media. He is comfortable with graphic and web design, savvy with social media and video editing, and a very capable copywriter. Jarvis’ passion for developing creative communication solutions and his broad skill-set enables him to create unique and engaging media solutions for JAW Communications.
Brand & Marketing Associate
Julia is a highly experienced Marketing professional with specialist expertise in Brand Marketing and Communications to generate awareness and sustainable brand momentum. Julia has worked for large corporate service organisations such as ANZ, Telstra and IAG as well as in the Not for Profit sector, most recently for the Olivia Newton John Cancer Research Institute.
Julia has managed complex brand and marketing projects and is experienced in developing communications campaigns and creating branded content across paid, owned and earned media, including digital and social channels. Julia has a reputation for delivering award winning creative campaigns, leveraging the best creative and media talent to ensure brands achieve awareness and cut through in a complex and crowded media landscape.

Specialist members are vetted thoroughly, and to become a member, must have more than seven years' experience, and be able to provide seven referees.
