Promoting grant programs

JAW Communications has worked in close partnership with the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal (FRRR) to promote and strengthen engagement with its national grant programs, supporting communities across remote, rural and regional Australia.

Our work is designed around three core objectives: increasing awareness of available funding opportunities, improving the quality of grant applications received, and attracting additional philanthropic support to help FRRR meet growing and often unmet community need.

Given the geographic spread of the target audience, variable infrastructure and technology capabilities (particularly internet access) and diverse audience demographics, we took a multi-faceted communications approach. It included online and face to face elements, and embraced new channels where gaps or opportunities existed. We created tools to support community groups to help them develop and lodge better grant applications.

A key focus was equipping community organisations with the tools and information needed to successfully apply for funding. We developed and maintained clear, user-friendly grant program web pages containing application guidance, eligibility information, formatting requirements, timelines and supporting resources. We also supported the management of grant opening and closing cycles, ensuring timely and consistent communication across all channels.

We worked hard to consistently create and distribute credible, compelling content, and to influence the influencers, to ensure FRRR’s capabilities and offerings are well understood by local communities, donors, governments and those who these people respect and trust. This involved proactive storytelling, media outreach, coordination of interviews, and the creation and distribution of credible, compelling content that built trust and clarity around FRRR’s work.

Through this integrated approach, we helped strengthen the entire grant ecosystem – from improving applicant readiness and submission quality, to expanding awareness and support for FRRR’s funding model and long-term impact in rural and regional communities.
